My German Kitchen ... in the Rockies: Walnut Maple Syrup Ice Cream

Walnut Maple Syrup Ice Cream

Yes, the first homemade ice cream of the year.

I found this recipe a while ago on one of my German food blogs that I follow, Mestolo.
Walnut, cream and maple syrup, who could resist? For me it was "Love at first sight". Yes, I believe in that and have never been disappointed. Nutty, creamy, cold and sweet; a sin.

Ingredients:

*   100 g walnuts, chopped
*  160 ml  maple syrup
*  300 g  heavy whipping cream
*  200 g evaporated milk

Directions:

Mix maple syrup and cream.

Pour chilled evaporeted milk into a mixing bowl and whisk until thickened and the volume has doubled.
You should be able to see the tracks of the whisk.
Mix in the cream mixture.
Pour into the ice cream maker until done. Transfer the mixture into the freezer for at least 2 to 3 hours.

Plaese visit www.maplesyrupworld.com for all your maple syrup inquiries.

It sounds divine. I can just imagine it with bacon sprinkled over the top --is that wrong?!

I love home made ice cream and just haven't made any yet this year. I found a banana recipe I want to try. I'm definitely saving this recipe. Sounds wonderful.

@Susi: Tu das. Es ist total lecker.
@Chele: Well, you should consider getting one. Homemade ice cream is sooo much better but I also understand where you are coming from.
